The highly strategic position in Hall 8 next to a strong partner and an interesting selection of products are just three of the reasons why SCHMIDT Winter Maintenance and Municipal Technology was so successful at this year’s Agritechnica in Hanover. The traditional company also started the exhibition off with an impressive series of premieres.

One of the premieres was the stand itself. Never before had SCHMIDT appeared at the Agritechnica with a single stand. The Black Forest company displayed three machines for mounting on tractors and carrier vehicles: the MS 32.1 multi-bladed TARRON snow plough, the TRAXOS 15 mountable sprayer, as well as, the large WASA 300 trailer sweeper. They all attracted a lot of attention. And that was not all. SCHMIDT Sales Manager, Gerd Kröning confirmed at the end of the exhibition that “They were all sold”.

Another first was the stand’s concept. With company partner AEBI directly “next door”, both were able to take advantage of the extra design possibilities and exhibition activity. Surrounded by SCHMIDT exhibits on the one side and AEBI products like the Terratrac or motor mower on the other, a relaxing area with chairs and tables was created which stood out amongst the continuous flow of visitors on all three sides. It was an extremely popular well-used area. “We had a lot of very positive encounters.” said Robert Lambrou, Marketing Manager commenting on all the activity on the stand in Hall 8. Sales Manager Gerd Kröning and his staff were involved in intensive discussions for the entire duration of the exhibition.

There was a never-ending stream of agriculturalists and commercial service providers on the stand. This was due to the fact that it was the first time for them to see SCHMIDT at the Agritechnica, so they took advantage of the opportunity to inform themselves about what SCHMIDT had to offer. It is becoming more and more common for agriculturalists to assume the responsibility for certain areas of municipal maintenance such as clearing snow and de-icing. It was precisely for this reason that the heavy duty TARRON, specially built for clearing in severe conditions and the TRAXOS mountable sprayer were the focus of the attention. Both ensure efficient and effective winter maintenance, even when using tractors.

The WASA 300 not only drew a lot of attention because it was the most prominent display but because it was possible to look under the hood. Area Sales Manager, Charles Boné regularly took the time to present the mechanically operating trailer sweeper. Among the special advantages, which include the large suction capacity of 3 m3, is also the dust reduced sweeping feature. Water jets ensure the effective removal of street dust and the mechanical sweeping produces no emissions. Boné repeatedly pointed this out. He and his colleagues were additionally supported by the new product video which shows the WASA 300 in action, performing various sweeping tasks and also being used together with a tractor and Unimog.

SCHMIDT’s company management were more than satisfied with the results of the seven days at the Agritechnica. It exceeded all their expectations. “We want to gain experience” said Charles Boné on the opening day. It was, after all, the first time SCHMIDT had had a single stand at the Agritechnica and the company’s experts were pleased with the outcome. Robert Lambrou described the stand concept, with the selection of machines and the partnership with AEBI, as “a very successful debut”. A further contributing factor was the position of the SCHMIDT presence in the not so spacious Hall 8. Its very strategic position directly between the larger Hall 9, where the vehicle manufacturers Unimog, Fendt and Valtra were located and Halls 7 to 4 with John Deere, Claas, Steyr and New Holland, made sure that the SCHMIDT stand could not be overlooked. Gerd Kröning remarked “We were perfectly positioned. Everything fit together.”

From November 11th to the 17th, 2 168 companies from 36 countries presented their products and services at the Agritechnica, the world’s largest agricultural technology exhibition. 340 000 agriculturalists and experts visited the exhibition. For the exhibition’s organiser, Dr. Reinhard Grandke, Chief Executive Officer of the German Agricultural Society (DLG), the exhibition can be called a success based on the increased numbers of visitors and exhibitors. »The Agritechnica is the most unique meeting point for the agricultural technology branch worldwide.«
